Can't believe it's been 3 weeks already. Jaime has been busy keeping you all up to date with his blog so we thought we would give you a little more info from us.

After #Lithgow we headed off to #Bathurst. It's a cool place with some great things to see. Mount Panorama Racetrack is the most notable. We had a great time at the track and the museum. The museum is steeped in motorsport history. We all loved it even Elaine and Jaime who aren't really motorsport fans. Well worth a visit if you're in the area. Not much else of note in Bathurst as we just stocked up on a few supplies and took it a little easier due to the weather.

Next we headed to Jenolan Campsite in Oberon. We based ourselves here for a few days as again it was raining and was a good spot to see a few things. On Saturday we went to #Millthope to meet our good mates Chris and Jay for coffee and to see John's mate #Gerryfaulkner

Gerry is the "Irishman of Millthorpe", he's an ex-publican in Millthorpe and the go-to man around town if you need anything or want to find out some history. He also hosts a radio show " #Ireland_downunder" on Mondays from 12noon to 3 pm on #FM1075. We had a great avo at Gerry's and I have to say he's a thirsty host...lol. His house is totally off-grid. Sourcing his own electricity and water. He and Cynthia even keep bees.

We visited Mayfield Gardens the next day. A beautiful privately owned garden which was a real treat to wander around. we just finished walking around when a massive storm hit. Thankfully we were in the cafe by then. #Jenolancaves was magical to see that afternoon. As Covid restrictions are still in place in most places only a handful of people were allowed on each tour which for us made it better as it felt more like a private tour. An amazing place but sad to see the damage to the area caused by floods and bush fires over the last 2 years.

Mudgee was our next stop for a few days. We checked into the Big 4 caravan park which was good to bunker down when raining. Mudgee is a super place to visit with lots to see and do but mainly it's known for its great wine. At one of the cellar doors, #logan_wines the young lady who served us when tasting the great wines described Mudgee as " a boring place to grow up but an awesome place for adults to live". We were lucky enough to be in town for the opening day of Cherry picking season at #10estate. Jaime put more in his mouth than he put in the bucket.

Due to the bad weather, we decided to go to #Dubbo next. We'd been there before to visit the zoo but there are lots of other good things to do. Other highlights were #theroyalflyingdoctorsexperience, this was a very insightful experience. It makes you realize just how many people in remote Australia depend on the Flying Doctors.

The other highlight was #olddubbogaol. This old jail is steeped in history and a great place for adults and kids alike. Jaime wasn't very impressed with the sleeping quarters there..LOL and was amused at what he called an "old computer" ie..a typewriter.

We enjoyed Dubbo in parts but unfortunately never really felt safe there.

Happy to hit the road again we decided to do a bigger drive than usual and headed off to #Tamworth. The Australian capital, of country music. Great little town!! They have amazing kids areas there so Jaime was never short of somewhere to go. One of the best skateparks in Australia is there and Jaime just loved it. Unfortunately, the Country music museum was closed for renovations but we did go to the #biggoldenguitar and that was great. Lots of waxworks there of famous country music icons and displays of music legends guitars. If there‘s one place to get yourself a great guitar….it’s #capitalmusic #Tamworth yep John bought another guitar. It’s called a traveller guitar as it’s smaller than the regular one and it's easier to pack away when traveling. As we're on the road and have plenty of free time it seems like the perfect time to learn guitar. We’ll see ???,

After Tamworth we headed to an amazing camping spot at #dangarfalls in the National Park. Campfires, toasted marshmallows, breakfast pancakes cooked over the fire, waterfalls and total peacefulness. ( except for Jaime …LOL )

Glen Innes was our next stop. Australia’s most Celtic Town. A great little town to visit for a few days. We stayed at the Showgrounds which did the job considering we mostly had rain again but managed to get in a little sightseeing. The most notable spot was #TheAustralianstandingstones. These 38 large stones are Australia’s official National Celtic Monument.

It was pouring rain when we packed up to leave the campsite. All checks were done before we left…. Or at least we thought so. Driving down the road John says did you put the TV aerial down? He pulled over and jumped out of the car to see half a tree stuck around the aerial and the ariel bent in two. 😩😩😩. After a few expletives and some roadside patchwork, we were on the road to Inverell. When we got there the place was like a ghost town. Partly due to a few Covid cases in the town and partly due to the bad weather. The river was flooding and so we decided to keep going to Moree.

We decided to stay two nights in #Moree which was a nice town although a lot of things hadn’t opened back up since the last Covid lockdown. It was great to catch up with #andreamattesboyce and her two boys Finley & Felix at their beautiful home for some yummy homemade pizza and a chat.

Off tomorrow to #lightningridge....promise it won't be as long until you hear from us again.
